I've spent years behind a camera, but I'm drawn less to perfect pictures and more to real life—the beautiful, weird, loud, fleeting stuff happening right in front of us.
I'm raising teenagers now, which has given me a whole new appreciation for how ridiculously fast childhood disappears. The messy house, the little hands, the favorite outfits, the way they used to climb into your lap, You don't realize which ordinary day will be the one you wish you could have back.
That's why I created Raised in Fishtown.
To photograph families in the neighborhood I love, exactly as they are.
A little editorial. A little messy. A lot of personality.
Because perfect isn't really the point.
Remembering it is.
